Why you absolutely need a Facebook landing page.
About three weeks ago, I wrote a post here on how to integrate WordPress with Facebook. Many of you have probably found this blog post as a result. Part of the overall idea was to provide extra content inside the Facebook ecosystem, and relied on this simple concept:
Offer something extra via your Facebook page, that isn’t available elsewhere, and the inquisitive nature of people, will grow your fan base.
Inspired by Guy Kawasaki’s post, it worked surprisingly well. Prior to the post going live, I had, over the course of about 6 months, acquired about 560 fans. Pithy by most standards. Since publishing that post, and the new landing page tab implementation (rather than the standard issue wall post view) I’ve since acquired 200 additional fans in three weeks. Not earth shattering, but significantly the growth rate is up 35% over the past three weeks without doing a whole load. You can see from the graph below (of Facebook fans over time, obviously) that the little red dot represents the day the change happened.
I have to admit I initially thought that showing wall posts, the nature of the community, and the type of posts would have encouraged click throughs and fans. Not so. Don’t underestimate the impact of a landing page, and a unique selling point.I’d go as far to say that every Facebook page needs one.

As with many interface elements within Facebook, this isn’t the easiest thing in the world to find. Screengrab below for those of you wondering where to find it. Settings option is to the right of your stream.
