According to a report published today by global statistics company Comscore – more than 1 in 5 (21%) Irish users use LinkedIn ever month, placing Ireland as the country with the 2nd highest global penetration of this social networking site in the world. Ireland came 2nd only to the Netherlands, which had a penetration of (26.1%) , and also took the Twitter usage crown with a pentration of (26.8%).

The study reveals that the Irish social networking market continues to grow strongly as sites like Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin extend their respective footprints in the market, placing Ireland as a front runner in global social networking behavior, particularly in the recruitment and business sectors that the company caters for.

The findings also reflect that more and more people are turning to the internet in search of career opportunities, particularly in the tough economic conditions that Ireland finds itself in.
