Ever wanted to know when an SMS message or phone call is coming or send a text message from your phone through via your web browser? Well now you can, thanks to a Google Chrome extension that synchronises your smartphone events with your browser. Texty is a startup in private beta that lets you send and receive SMS text messages directly from your computer using your current phone number from your Android phone, all without the receiver knowing any different.

Although the Google voice extension already does something similar for carriers in the U.S. – it’s not yet available in Europe or elsewhere in the world – Texty brings that functionality to all of us, all through an easy to use interface that lets you text back all of your friends that bit quicker.  Contacts from your Google phone synch perfectly for composing new texts, and HTML 5 push notifications of new voice mails or received calls make it an awesome piece of kit that power users are going to find extremely useful.
